VDSL (very-high-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line) is the next generation broadband Telkom offering.
The service has been rolled out during the first quarter of 2013 by upgrading older DSLAMS to newer
MSANS in major metropolitan areas within South Africa. Speeds offered through VDSL are either 20 Mbits/sec and
40 Mbits/sec, a major upgrade in broadband speeds, up to 4 times faster than regular DSL.
VDSL still uses the existing copper infrastructure that ADSL runs over, but from your local exchange lines connecting
to the Internet cloud use fibre opitic cables, thus increases capacity and reducing latency.
Please check to see if you line supports VDSL.
Its currently only offered in these areas within South Africa.
