Tenda fibre router setup guide

This guide includes important information about setting up your new fibre connection, and tips for securing your network. If the contractor assigned to your installation has been kind enough to set up your router for you, please take some time to work your way through this guide from step 5 to check that the settings are correct and to apply some of Imaginet’s recommended security tips.

This guide applies to

Tenda AC1200 devices (AC9 and AC10)

You will need

Your Tenda device

Tenda power supply unit (power plug)

An ethernet cable (included with your Tenda device)

An installed and connected ONT/CPE (Fibre modem/”jack”)

Getting Connected

  1. Ensure that the ONT/CPE is connected and switched on and that its LED indicator lights are on and show a that your fibre service is working (see [insert link to ONT/CPE comparison page here])
  2. Connect one end of the ethernet cable to the Tenda’s WAN port (the rightmost yellow ethernet port on the back of the device) to the ONT/CPE’s ethernet port.
  3. Plug in the Tenda power supply, and connect the PSU to the Tenda router,
  4. Connect your computer or mobile device to the Tenda WFi network or with another ethernet cable (via any of the remaining ethernet ports).

For Wifi connection, the password for the WiFi network is printed on the sticker on the underside of the Tenda router. Check the sticker for the “WiFi Key” and enter this as the password when prompted by your computer or mobile device).

  1. Open your browser (Firefox, Edge, Chrome, Safari, Chromium, etc.) and enter the router’s IP address into the browser address bar and press enter. The router’s IP address is in the included manual, and printed on the sticker on the underside of the device,, but it’s usually 192.168.0.1

You will be directed to the router’s configuration page. For now, we’ll just get you connected to the internet as quickly as possible. Please take some time to follow the rest of this guide to ensure that your network is reasonably secure.

  1. If prompted, set a new password for your router’s configuration page.
    1. if prompted for connection settings, please select the following based on the fibre network you’re connected to.

Openserve: Select PPPoE, then enter Username and Password. Other networks: Select Dynamic IP Address.

    1. Click CONNECT.
  1. Once the Router is set up your browser might prompt you to sign in to the network. Open a new tab and browse to https:??fibre.internet.co.za/

From there you will be prompted to enter your @flash.imaginet username.
