Adjusting your usage cap
What is a hard cap?
Per GB ADSL services will allow you to exceed your default package limit. In other words, if you have a 10GB package, you will be able to use more than 10GB in one month. Excess usage will be billed at a surcharge or "out-of-bundle" rate depending on the type of package you have. In order to prevent unexpected usage and charges, you are able to set a hard cap on your account, which will disable your ADSL connection once your usage reaches a certain point.
For example, if you have a 10GB package, but you never want to use more than 11GB, you can set your hard cap to 11GB. Please note that your usage is checked hourly, so it is possible to exceed your hard cap limit.
Once you've set a hard cap on your account, the limit will remain at that point from month to month unless you upgrade or downgrade your package. This does not mean that you will be billed for additional usage every month. You will only be billed for excess usage that you actually use.
How to adjust your usage limit
- Log in to MyDot
- Click on "EDIT" next to your ADSL package.
- Click on "EDIT" next to "Account limit".
- Next to "New Limit" enter your chosen usage limit. The value is in MB. 1GB = 1024MB
- Click "SAVE".
Once you reach your usage limit, you will still be able to access my.imaginet.co.za to adjust your limit, even if you can no longer access other sites or services. This is referred to as a walled garden. When your ADSL package is in this state, it is said to be "gardened". You can log in to my.imaginet.co.za to increase your limit. Please note that it may take a few minutes for your connection to be re-enabled.
