Automated installation via Plesk

Manual installation

Installing Joomla is fairly simple, just follow these steps and you will be able to start creating your own website in no time.

Step 1: Download Installer Files

Download the latest version of Joomla from the following link [Joomla Download] and upload the files to the server using the FTP method that you prefer.

Step 2: Run installer

Once the files have uploaded, open a new tab in browser and type the domain name that you uploaded the files to. You will then see the following page, all you need to do on this page is enter the Site Name , Site Email, Admin Username and Password. Remember to make a note of the details entered as you will need them to login to the Joomla backend.

Step 3: Database Configuration

The database configuration step is quite an important, so follow it carefully. In order to enter these details, you already need to have a database created. Once the database has been created, the following details can be found on the hosting datasheet. If you do not have these details, simply contact one of our helpdesk agents and they will be able to provide you with these details.
Database Type: Leave this set to MySQLi
Hostname: The hostname can either be left as localhost or you can put in the mysql.yourdomain.co.za as specified in your datasheet.
Username: This will be the database username which is the same as the database name.
Password: This is the database password
Database Name: This is the database name

This step can just be skipped, as it not necessary to configure this on our server.

On this page it will provide you with an overview of the details entered and will also do a pre-installtion check. Once you are ready, you simply click install.

After the installation is complete, the last step is to click on the Remove installation folder button, which should then display the following.
