Installing Joomla
Although Joomla has released a lot of different versions, the installation method is the same for all of them. To install Joomla, just follow these steps and you should be fine.
- Step 1
Download the latest version of Joomla from the following link Joomla 2.5 Download and upload the files to the server using the FTP method that you prefer.
- Step 2
You are now ready to run the Joomla Installer, so open a new tab in browser and type the domain name. You should then see the following screen below and click the Next button.
- Step 3
This is just the Pre-Installation check, if you find that it's displaying that Safe Mode is on, please speak to one of the hosting administrators to assist you with this.
- Step 3.1
This is just the license agreement. All you need to do here is click next.
- Step 4
During this step, you need to make sure that the correct database details are entered and that the host name is set to mysql.yourdomainname.co.za. (yourdomainname should be replaced by the name of your domain.)
- Step 5
This is the FTP configuration. This can be left as is and simply click next.
- Step 6
This is the main configuration where you enter the site details and click on Install Sample Data.
- Step 7
The final step is to remove the installation directory by clicking on Remove installation folder.
And that's it, you are done.
